Upper Gronhovd. Asgaut paid the war tax in 1614, he was sole ownerhere
in 1616. Kittil Upper Gronhovd is named after 1624, but he wasperhaps
between Gronhovd. Torstein Upper Gronhovd answered for the farm in1633.
After him came Gunnar in 1641. He used portions in the farm and inVegges-
rud. Gunnar paid the poll tax in 1644 by himself. It seems thatGunnar
owned only a part of the farm it is in the tax lists in 1645. Gunnar
Gronhovd 15 1/2 units of value, the year after 10, the year after 5inherited
pieces, in 1647 8 1/2. With his wife Gunnar got 10 units of value in
Redalen in Krodsherad.
Gunnar Aslesen was born at Kopseng, married to Ingebjorg Hakonsd.
Basum and lived here until about 1666 when they overtook Kopseng andmoved
there. It was the next eldest son who took over Gronhovd, but thefather
also owned a good deal of the farm. The total value was 15 units, they
fed 1 horse, 10 cattle, 5 calves, and 19 sheep, exactly as in lowerGronhovd,
there were woods for lumber, and a mill. Nils Gunnarsen owned aportion in
middle Gronhovd and had it as a tenant farm. For a time his brotherEllev
Gunnarsen worked there as a sharecropper. Nils Gronhovd entered intogoods
in upper Engar in 1681, 4 1/2 units of value for 200 silver cons, thenhe
bought 5 portions in Evju in 1685, and entered into parts in Gronhovd. To
this he also had 8 1/2 units of value in Evju and 1 1/2 in WestBlekaberg.
Nils Gunnarsen, born around 1837 was married to SigridGulliksdatter
from Hoymyr in Flesberg(?), They had the following children;
1. Aslemarried to Ingebjorg Nilsdatter, owned the farm.
2. Ingebjorg, married for the first time to Knut Soland and thesecond
time to Helge Steingrimsen, Blekaberg.
3. Ingerid, married to Helge Halsteinrud.
4. Birgitte, married to Kristoffe Hov.
5. Kjersti, married to Ola Aslaksen Ulberg.
6. Mari, married for the first time to Ola Asbjornsen Juvet and thesecon
time to Peder Olsen Juvet.
Nils died around 1689, for in 1690 Sigrid was a widow and managedwith
the children land in Gronhovd. She was summoned into court in 1701because
she had not received a legal inheritance from her husband. Turi fromlower
Gronhovd was summoned at the same time. it was at this time decidedto settle
the property and thereafter donate 100 marks to Our Savior's Church in
Krristiania. There was a settlement in 1706. The widow receivedplots to
maintain in Evju while the son overtook Gronhovd.
Mari was still unmarried and got 12 silver coins in dowry, such asher
married sisters had received. The farm was in 1823 comprised of 8 1/2
units of value, and fed with 10 loads of hay 1 horse, 11 cattle and 16sheep.
The woods gave 3-4 loads yearly in lumber, and the value was increasedto
10 units of value.
Sigrid Gulliksdatter married for the second time with Odd Paulsen. They
had no children. Sigrid(Siri) died in 1729, 86 years old, Odd in1730,
86 years old. This Odd Paulsen was new to the area, his family livedin
NUmedal, Etne V. Bergan and in "Nordlan". With the settlement afterhim
in 1730 there were portions in Evju, east Gonhovd, west Blekaberg andsome
in Hov that Iver Olsson agreed to at the auction. Asle Nilsen wasfirst in
Blekaberg some years, thereafter in Evju, but when his mother movedwith the
chjildren in 1727, he overtook Gronhovd, he entered into inheritedproperties
here, through takeovers and purchases.
