Erik Halvorson's biography is unkown, but his son Eivind EriksenHaugen
was born around 1575 and was most likely married to a daughter of JonPalsen
Skare, and we know of the following children:
1. Erik, married to Inge Steingrimsd Hovland was here.
2 Jon, married to Kari Steinarsdatter Frovoll, owned the farm forsome years.
3. Guri married Torgeir Raenset.
4. Joran marriedNarve Eikje.
5. Bjorn, married two times, owned half the farm.
There was most likely half-siblings here and, among others abrother
Halvor, father to the Ola Halvorsen who was killed in Skare.
Eivand Haugen traded a good deal of properties in 1625 withKristen
Levordsen Ravnas in Glesberg. There was a settlement after Eivind in1668.
The son Jon answered for Haugen from 1655-1662. He gave the farmover
to brother Bjorn and nephew Steingrim and moved to Skare where waitedfor him
his ill-fated destiny. After this there were two tenants in Haugen.Bjorn
and Steingrim Moen.
The southernmost farm in Moen that was a part of a land exchangeat
Kopseng-Sole in 1438 (see Sole) could be Moen of Haugen. If this isthe
coincidence, it must have gone out with the two farms at Moen.
In 1603 it was unclear about the inheritance rights to Moen, both
Halvor Haugen and Peder Teige laid claims to this farm. Peder Teigecame
so far in this dispute as to force Halvor Haugen to bring forth aletter
at Moen on All Sints Day (November 1) of the same year, and if hedidn't
do it, Peder should then purchase Moen after giving Halvor 10 marks in
payment. There was put forth a letter about Moen from 1574 we have noaccount
of it, but it seems that Erik Halvorsen Haugen owned everything hereat this
time.
His brother Halvor most likely farmed Moen and negotiated anagreement
about it with Peder Teige without having rights to it. After thesettlement
of Eivind Eriksen Haugen in 1668, Slogemoen was appraised at 1 1/2units
of value.
Jon Eivindsen Skare overtook this after his father. Jon Skarebegan
building a house and clearing land here in 1669, some other houseswere
completely finished. But when Jon was summoned to court because ofhis crimes
in 1670, he gave half of his holdings to the king. The tax collectorTroels
Knoff took over everything after Jon, but Narve Eikje entered into thepro-
perty and got title here in 1673. He deeded the place to Steingrimand Lars
Haugen, soon after the settlement he and his stepson GudbrandHelgesen
got West Soland (from Pletan) and inherited goods in Vad. At thistime
Gudbrand overtook Moen and farmed the place together with Soland, butit
did not work because Narve Eikje had leased that to the Haugs farmers.
Gunbjorn Jonsen-lower Teige came in 1679 with a demand for Moen,as
he felt he had rights to it. But it happened in 1603 that Haugen wasto have
it. Each Haugen farm owned two thirds units of value.
Lars and Reidar (Haugen) are named as sharecroppers at Slogemoenin
the tax lists of 1690, they had this probably as tenants to Haugen. When
Gunbjorn Pedersen-lower-Haugen divided his farm in 1171 between twosons,
Jon overtook 6 units and 1 1/2 skins worth; that part of Moen whichbelonged
here, the places Oyane and lower Besserud, and therefore (he owned)the
rights to the saw and mill.
