Bjorn Larsen was married two times. With the first wife he hadfour
children what we know of:
1. Lars, worked in Besserud in1763
2. Tor, lived in Fosslia in Krodsherad
3. Ingrid, married in1733 to Kittil Reidarsen Skare
4. Helge, she was fifty years old and unmarried in 1763.
Children by Gjertrud Bjornsdatter are
5. Mari, married to Elling Turusen
6. Gunhild, born in 1722, died at birth
7. Gunhild, born in1723, died in 1729
8. Guri, born in 1726, worked in 1763 as Chief magistrate Darjes
9. Goro, born in 1730, married in1755 to Knut GunnarsenMedalseie
10. Bjorn, born in 1733, died unmarried, probably as a militaryofficer
in Holstein, there was a settlement after him in SouthAusland
in 1763.
Bjorn Larsen died a poor man in 1747. Gjertrud died probably in
Kopsengeie in 1760. Things did not go well for Bjorn here. Therewere
too many loans to pay back. His brother, Eivand, loaned him money andgot
use of half the farm. In 1741 Iver Olsson Kolsrud came with a demandfor
511 silver coins because Bjorn had not made payments on his loanssince
1729. He had to mortgage all of his goods and cattle. The year after
Bjorn and Eivand Larssonner sold 10 pounds of goods here for a totalof
800 silver coins to Narve Jonsen and Margit Bjornsdatter Lower Tiege.
They moved here, but are listed as living in Teige. They gavethe
deed in1757 for Upper Haugen with half of Slogeemoen abd Bratan, halfof
Haugsaga and the mill, to the eldest son for 837 silvercoins.
Jon Narvesen had to obtain the inheritance rights in 1762 fromAdam
Torgeirsen Skalaeie with 90 silver coins and from Tor Bjornsen ineast
Fosslia by letting himm get the place Bratan for use for half the tax
amount.
Bjorn Bjornsen tried to obtain inheritance rights as well, buttook
instead 61 silver coins inpayment (1758). Narve Jonsen and his sonJon
Narvesen operated well. In 20 years they increased the farm inpasture
and cultivated fields to double its previous size and built all newhouses
themselves. Jon Narvesen was at home at Teige when in 1757, he was
mortgaged because he had forgotten to pay 2 marks in taxes. The feefor the
mortgage was set at 10 silver coins nand 2 marks, so in all he had topay
11 silver coins in payment.
